Which album won a record nine Grammy Awards at the 2000 ceremony?

Supernatural by Santana won a record nine Grammy Awards at the 2000 ceremony.

The album marked a dramatic commercial revival for guitarist Carlos Santana, who collaborated with artists including Rob Thomas, Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, and Eric Clapton. Its major singles included “Smooth,” “Maria Maria,” and “Put Your Lights On.”

Supernatural won Album of the Year and Record of the Year, with “Smooth” taking the latter award. Its nine victories matched the record for the most Grammys won by an album at one ceremony and made Santana the night’s dominant winner.

The album is sometimes remembered only as a Latin-rock success, but its Grammy victories covered several mainstream categories, including pop, rock, and collaboration awards.
