Which airline introduced the Boeing 787 Dreamliner into commercial passenger service in 2011?

The story behind the answer

All Nippon Airways, also known as ANA, introduced the Boeing 787 Dreamliner into commercial passenger service in 2011. ANA was Boeing's launch customer for the new wide-body aircraft.

The first 787 was delivered to ANA on September 25, 2011, after a development program marked by significant delays. The airline's first commercial 787 flight took place on October 26, 2011, between Tokyo and Hong Kong.

The Dreamliner used a greater proportion of composite materials than earlier Boeing wide-body aircraft. Boeing also highlighted its improved fuel efficiency, lower cabin altitude, larger windows, and higher humidity compared with many previous long-haul jets.

United Airlines became an important early 787 operator, but it did not introduce the type. Japan Airlines was also an early customer. The 787 family includes the 787-8, 787-9, and 787-10, with different capacities and ranges.
