Which airline introduced the Airbus A380 into commercial passenger service in 2007?
Answer
Singapore Airlines
Answer
Singapore Airlines
Singapore Airlines introduced the Airbus A380 into commercial passenger service in 2007.
The first commercial A380 flight departed Singapore for Sydney on 25 October 2007. Singapore Airlines was the launch customer for Airbus’s double-deck wide-body aircraft, marking the beginning of scheduled passenger operations for the world’s largest passenger airliner.
The aircraft was designed for high-capacity routes between major international hubs. Its two full-length passenger decks and four-engine layout allowed airlines to carry many passengers, although its size also required compatible gates, taxiways, bridges, and airport handling systems.
Emirates later became the A380’s largest operator, which can cause confusion about the aircraft’s first airline. Emirates received its first A380 in 2008, after Singapore Airlines had already begun commercial service. The A380 continues to be strongly associated with Emirates, but Singapore Airlines holds the launch distinction.
