Which actress voiced Sally in The Nightmare Before Christmas?
Answer
Catherine O'Hara
Answer
Catherine O'Hara
Catherine O'Hara voiced Sally in The Nightmare Before Christmas. Sally is the rag doll created by the eccentric Doctor Finkelstein, and she becomes Jack Skellington's closest companion and eventual romantic partner.
O'Hara performed Sally's speaking voice and singing, including the character's reflective song “Sally's Song.” Her gentle, hesitant delivery contrasts with Jack's dramatic enthusiasm and helps establish Sally as observant, compassionate, and quietly determined. Although the film is associated with Tim Burton, it was directed by Henry Selick, with Burton serving as the film's writer and producer.
The movie was released in 1993 and used stop-motion animation rather than traditional cel animation. O'Hara also voices Shock, one of the three trick-or-treating children working for Oogie Boogie. Viewers sometimes confuse the cast because Danny Elfman voices Jack and sings much of Jack's material, while Chris Sarandon provides Jack's speaking voice. Jennifer Saunders voices the witch Am, not Sally.
