Which actress stars as Kara Zor-El in Supergirl?

Milly Alcock stars as Kara Zor-El, the Kryptonian hero known as Supergirl, in the 2026 film Supergirl. The Australian actor plays the film’s central character in her first solo big-screen appearance as the DC heroine.

Alcock was cast as Supergirl in 2024 after gaining international attention as Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon. Her version of Kara is based partly on the more weathered, rebellious interpretation associated with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, the comic miniseries by Tom King and Bilquis Evely.

The film’s cast also includes Jason Momoa as Lobo, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem, and David Corenswet as Superman. Viewers may confuse Alcock with Melissa Benoist, who played Supergirl in the long-running Arrowverse television series, or Sasha Calle, who played Supergirl in The Flash. Meg Donnelly has voiced the character in animation but is not the live-action star of this film.
