Which actress portrays Rosa Diaz?

Stephanie Beatriz portrays Detective Rosa Diaz in Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Beatriz plays Rosa as an intimidating, fiercely private NYPD detective whose controlled exterior hides a strong sense of loyalty and vulnerability.

Rosa is one of the original detectives at the fictional 99th Precinct. She trained at the police academy with Jake Peralta, and their long friendship is built on mutual respect, competition, and very different personalities. Rosa's blunt manner, leather jackets, and reluctance to discuss her feelings quickly made her one of the show's most recognizable characters.

Later in the series, Rosa comes out as bisexual. The storyline explores her relationship with her parents and her decision to leave the police department after becoming disillusioned with the institution. Beatriz's performance helped make Rosa's humor and emotional development work alongside the show's broader workplace-comedy style.

Beatriz is sometimes confused with Melissa Fumero, who plays Amy Santiago, or Chelsea Peretti, who plays Gina Linetti. They are all prominent women in the ensemble, but Rosa is specifically played by Beatriz.
