Which actress portrayed the Mother in How I Met Your Mother?

Cristin Milioti portrayed the Mother in How I Met Your Mother. She played Tracy McConnell, the woman Ted Mosby eventually meets and marries.

Milioti joined the series near the end of its eighth season, after the identity of the Mother had been teased for years. Her first full appearance came in the season-eight finale, “Something New,” where Tracy is shown at the Farhampton train station with her yellow umbrella and bass guitar.

The character was deliberately kept mysterious during most of the show. Earlier episodes revealed clues about Tracy, including her connection to Ted’s yellow umbrella, but she was often unseen or shown only indirectly. This led viewers to speculate that several guest actresses might eventually play her.

Milioti became a main cast member in season nine, which explored Tracy’s life, her relationships, and her eventual meeting with Ted. She was also known for the Broadway musical Once and later appeared in Palm Springs and The Penguin.
