Which actress plays Lady Rosamund Painswick?

Samantha Bond plays Lady Rosamund Painswick in Downton Abbey. Rosamund is the wealthy widowed sister of Robert Crawley, the Earl of Grantham, and the daughter of the Earl and Countess of Grantham.

Although she lives primarily in London, Rosamund remains closely involved with the Crawley family. Her position gives her independence and a sharper awareness of social change than some of the relatives who remain rooted at Downton. She often offers advice on marriage, money, reputation, and family disputes, though her interventions do not always make matters simpler.

Bond first appeared as Rosamund near the end of the show’s first series and became a recurring member of the ensemble. The role is sometimes confused with those of Elizabeth McGovern, who plays Robert’s wife, Cora Crawley, and Penelope Wilton, who plays Isobel Crawley.

Outside Downton Abbey, Bond is widely recognised as Miss Moneypenny in four James Bond films starring Pierce Brosnan.
