Daisy Ridley played Rey in the Star Wars sequel trilogy beginning with Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015. Rey is introduced as an orphan living on the desert planet Jakku before becoming involved with the Resistance and discovering her connection to the Force.
Ridley was relatively unknown when J. J. Abrams cast her. The Force Awakens was released on December 18, 2015, and became a major international hit. She returned as Rey in Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi in 2017 and J. J. Abrams’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in 2019.
A common mix-up is confusing the actress with Carrie Fisher, who played Leia Organa in the same trilogy. Natalie Portman played Padmé Amidala in the prequel trilogy, while Felicity Jones appeared in the Star Wars spin-off Rogue One. Ridley later appeared in films including Murder on the Orient Express and Young Woman and the Sea.
