Which actress played Lucy Moran, the receptionist at the Twin Peaks sheriff’s station?

The story behind the answer

Kimmy Robertson played Lucy Moran, the receptionist at the Twin Peaks sheriff’s station.

Lucy is one of the original series’ most recognizable supporting characters. She works at the station alongside Sheriff Harry S. Truman, Deputies Andy Brennan and Hawk, and visiting FBI agent Dale Cooper. Her comic timing, emotional reactions, and complicated romantic life give the police-station scenes a distinctive tone.

Robertson returned as Lucy in Twin Peaks: The Return, the 2017 continuation directed by David Lynch. The revival keeps Lucy connected to the sheriff’s office while updating the character’s circumstances decades after the original story.

Lucy is sometimes confused with other Twin Peaks women because the series has a large ensemble cast, including Audrey Horne, Donna Hayward, Shelly Johnson, and Josie Packard. Robertson’s role, however, is specifically the sheriff’s-station receptionist, not a member of the Palmer or Horne families.
