Which actor voiced Lightning McQueen in Pixar’s Cars films?

Owen Wilson voiced Lightning McQueen in Pixar’s Cars films.

Wilson’s voice performance gives Lightning a confident, fast-talking personality that gradually becomes more considerate. In the first Cars film, Lightning begins as a self-focused rookie but learns the value of friendship and community after reaching Radiator Springs.

Wilson returned as Lightning’s voice in Cars 2 and Cars 3. The character’s vocal identity remains consistent even as his role changes: he becomes an international competitor in Cars 2 and a veteran racer confronting younger technology in Cars 3.

The casting is sometimes confused with the actors who voiced other major Cars characters. Larry the Cable Guy voiced Mater, Bonnie Hunt voiced Sally Carrera, and Paul Newman voiced Doc Hudson in the original film. Owen Wilson is primarily known for live-action comedy and drama roles, making Lightning one of his best-known animation performances.
