Which actor provided Scooby-Doo’s voice in the live-action Scooby-Doo films of 2002 and 2004?

The story behind the answer

Neil Fanning provided Scooby-Doo’s voice in the 2002 and 2004 live-action Scooby-Doo films.

Because Scooby was created with computer-generated imagery, the character’s voice was recorded separately from the human actors’ on-camera performances. Fanning supplied the dialogue and vocal effects for the talking Great Dane in both theatrical films.

The films starred Matthew Lillard as Shaggy Rogers, which can cause confusion because Lillard later became one of the best-known live-action performers associated with the role. Frank Welker, meanwhile, is strongly associated with Scooby’s animated voice and also voiced other franchise characters.

The first film, Scooby-Doo, was released in 2002, and its sequel, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, followed in 2004. Fanning’s work belongs to those live-action theatrical productions, not the original animated television series.
