Which actor portrays Michael Jackson in the 2026 film Michael?

Jaafar Jackson portrays Michael Jackson in the 2026 film Michael. The casting is especially notable because Jaafar is Michael Jackson’s nephew and makes his feature-film debut in the title role.

The film follows Michael Jackson’s rise from a gifted child performer in Gary, Indiana, and member of the Jackson 5 to an internationally dominant solo artist. Jaafar was selected after filmmakers saw a close resemblance and a natural connection to Michael’s performance style. The production also uses Juliano Krue Valdi to portray Michael during his childhood years.

A common mix-up is confusing Jaafar Jackson with other performers who have played Michael in tribute shows or stage productions. Myles Frost, for example, portrayed Jackson in the Broadway musical MJ, while Algee Smith appeared in other film and television projects. Michael is directed by Antoine Fuqua and produced by Graham King, with the Jackson estate involved in the project.
