Which actor portrayed Gregory House in the television series House M.D.?

Hugh Laurie portrayed Gregory House in the television series House M.D.

The English actor played the title physician throughout the show’s eight seasons, making House one of his defining screen roles. Laurie’s performance combined sarcasm, physical pain, musical ability, and intense diagnostic reasoning, and it earned major award nominations and wins.

Robert Sean Leonard played James Wilson, while the other alternatives are actors known for different roles. Laurie’s casting was notable because the American production presented an English actor as an American doctor; he used an American accent for the role. Before House M.D., Laurie was already well known in the United Kingdom for comedy and television work.
