The actor who portrayed adult Sheldon Cooper is Jim Parsons.

Parsons played Sheldon throughout all 12 seasons of The Big Bang Theory, from the 2007 pilot through the 2019 finale. Sheldon is a brilliant theoretical physicist whose rigid routines, literal-mindedness, and difficult social behavior drive much of the comedy, and Parsons’ performance made him the show’s breakout character.

Parsons won four Primetime Emmy Awards for playing Sheldon, along with a Golden Globe and other television honors. He also provided the adult Sheldon’s narration for the spin-off Young Sheldon, whose main childhood version was played by Iain Armitage.

The most frequent mix-up is between the actor and the character’s colleagues: Johnny Galecki played Leonard, Simon Helberg played Howard, and Kunal Nayyar played Raj. Parsons, rather than any of those actors, portrayed the adult version of Sheldon in the original series.
