Which actor played Oskar Schindler in Spielberg's Schindler's List?
Answer
Liam Neeson
Answer
Liam Neeson
Liam Neeson played Oskar Schindler in Steven Spielberg’s Schindler’s List.
The 1993 film portrays Schindler as a German industrialist who used his factories and personal connections to protect more than 1,000 mostly Polish-Jewish people during the Holocaust. Neeson’s performance earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.
The cast is a common source of mix-ups: Ben Kingsley played Schindler’s Jewish accountant Itzhak Stern, while Ralph Fiennes played the brutal SS officer Amon Göth. Daniel Day-Lewis was not in the film. Spielberg chose Neeson after seeing him perform on Broadway and felt his presence suited Schindler’s charisma and moral complexity.
The film was adapted from Thomas Keneally’s 1982 novel Schindler’s Ark. Released in 1993, it won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, and was later selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.
