Which actor played Guy de Lusignan in Kingdom of Heaven?

The story behind the answer

Marton Csokas played Guy de Lusignan in Kingdom of Heaven.

Ridley Scott's 2005 historical epic follows Balian of Ibelin during the Crusades and the struggle for Jerusalem. Csokas portrays Guy as the ambitious husband of Sibylla, heir to the throne of Jerusalem. His character represents the militant faction that pushes the kingdom toward confrontation with Saladin.

The film also features Orlando Bloom, Eva Green, Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson, Edward Norton and Liam Neeson. A common mix-up is Edward Norton, who plays the masked King Baldwin IV, while Liam Neeson plays Balian's father, Godfrey of Ibelin. David Thewlis appears as the Hospitaller, another important but very different character.

Kingdom of Heaven is inspired by real medieval figures and events, but it fictionalizes personalities, relationships and chronology for dramatic purposes. Guy de Lusignan was historically king of Jerusalem and later king of Cyprus, although the film's characterization is shaped heavily by its political and military storyline.
