Which actor played FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper in Twin Peaks?

Kyle MacLachlan played FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper in Twin Peaks.

MacLachlan’s performance balances Cooper’s competence with his enthusiasm for small-town pleasures, formal manners and intuitive investigation. That combination made the character approachable even as the plot moved into increasingly supernatural territory.

MacLachlan also played other roles connected to the series, including the mysterious figure known as the Man from Another Place in the original production and additional identities in Twin Peaks: The Return. These multiple performances can make cast lists appear more complicated than they first seem.

Before Twin Peaks, MacLachlan worked with David Lynch in Dune and Blue Velvet. His Cooper role became his signature performance and earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Drama Series.
