Harry Goaz played Deputy Andy Brennan in the original Twin Peaks television series. Andy is a member of the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Department and works under Sheriff Harry S. Truman during the investigation into Laura Palmer’s murder.
Andy is characterized as well-meaning, emotional, and sometimes clumsy. His reactions provide comic relief, but the character also develops across the series and demonstrates genuine dedication to police work. His relationship with fellow deputy Lucy Moran becomes an important recurring subplot.
Goaz returned as Andy Brennan in Twin Peaks: The Return in 2017. The continuation shows that Andy has gained experience and responsibility while retaining recognizable aspects of his earlier personality.
Andy Brennan is often confused with Hawk, another deputy in the department. Michael Horse played Hawk, who is generally portrayed as more composed and knowledgeable about the area’s spiritual traditions. Harry Goaz and Michael Horse therefore played different members of Truman’s team.
