Which actor played Cosmo Kramer on "Seinfeld"?
Answer
Michael Richards
Answer
Michael Richards
Michael Richards played Cosmo Kramer on "Seinfeld." Richards portrayed Jerry's eccentric across-the-hall neighbor throughout the sitcom's 1989–1998 run and became one of its defining performers.
Kramer is known for his explosive entrances, physical comedy, vintage clothing, unusual business schemes, and unpredictable bursts of confidence. Although the character is usually called simply Kramer, his first name, Cosmo, was revealed in the sixth-season episode "The Switch." The character was loosely inspired by Kenny Kramer, Larry David's real-life neighbor in New York.
Richards' performance was especially notable for turning Kramer's movement and timing into a central part of the show's comedy. He won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series three times: in 1993, 1994, and 1997.
Viewers sometimes confuse Kramer with Newman because both characters are closely connected to Jerry's apartment building and often share scenes. Newman was played by Wayne Knight, while Jason Alexander played George Costanza. Michael Richards is the canonical answer for Cosmo Kramer.
