Which Academy Award category nominated How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World?

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

The nomination recognized the third film in DreamWorks Animation’s trilogy at the 92nd Academy Awards. The film was directed by Dean DeBlois and follows Hiccup as he searches for a legendary dragon sanctuary while trying to protect Berk’s growing dragon population.

The Hidden World competed in the animated-feature category alongside other animated films from 2019. It did not receive nominations in categories such as Best Original Song or Best Visual Effects.

The first How to Train Your Dragon film also received an Oscar nomination, but in different categories: Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score. Keeping the entries separate helps avoid confusing the trilogy’s award histories.
