Which A24 film won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2023?

Everything Everywhere All at Once was the A24 film that won the Academy Award for Best Picture at the 2023 Oscars.

The award was presented at the 95th Academy Awards on March 12, 2023, honoring films released during 2022. Directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, the film follows Evelyn Wang, a Chinese American laundromat owner drawn into a chaotic conflict spanning multiple universes.

The movie became a landmark success for A24. It received 11 Oscar nominations and won seven awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress for Michelle Yeoh, Best Supporting Actor for Ke Huy Quan, Best Supporting Actress for Jamie Lee Curtis, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Film Editing.

The wording can cause a small timing confusion: the ceremony took place in 2023, but the winning film is generally described as a 2022 film because that is when it was released. It also became the first science-fiction film to win Best Picture. Moonlight, another A24 release, won the same prize six years earlier at the 2017 ceremony, while Lady Bird and Minari were acclaimed A24 films but did not win Best Picture.
