Which 2019 album did Beyoncé create alongside the film The Lion King?
Answer
The Lion King: The Gift
Answer
The Lion King: The Gift
Beyoncé created The Lion King: The Gift alongside the 2019 film The Lion King.
The album was released on July 19, 2019, the same day as Disney’s photorealistic remake of The Lion King. Beyoncé voiced Nala in the film and described the project as a musical exploration inspired by the story, rather than simply a traditional soundtrack album.
The Lion King: The Gift includes collaborations with African and international artists such as Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade and Shatta Wale. Its songs draw on Afrobeats, R&B, hip-hop and other styles. “Brown Skin Girl,” featuring Blue Ivy, Wizkid and Saint Jhn, became one of the album’s best-known tracks.
Black Is King is related but distinct: it is a 2020 visual album film built around music from The Lion King: The Gift. The two titles are therefore easy to confuse, although they are not the same release.
