Pandora is the 2016 South Korean disaster film that shares its English title with the Pandora myth.
Directed by Park Jung-woo, Pandora follows a nuclear power-plant accident and the people caught in its aftermath. The film uses the familiar mythological name as a warning image: opening a dangerous system can release consequences that are difficult to control.
The movie is a contemporary disaster drama rather than a screen version of Hesiod’s story. Its plot concerns nuclear safety, emergency response, government decisions, and the human cost of catastrophe. The title creates an allusion, but no Greek gods or mythic jar drive the narrative.
It is often confused with The Host or Train to Busan because those are also internationally known South Korean genre films. Pandora is specifically the nuclear-disaster film released in 2016, and Park Jung-woo both wrote and directed it.
