Which 2014 UNESCO World Heritage property links Chang’an with the Tianshan corridor?

The story behind the answer

Silk Roads: the Routes Network of Chang'an-Tianshan Corridor is the 2014 UNESCO World Heritage property linking Chang’an with the Tianshan corridor. It is a transnational serial property covering routes and sites across China, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.

The nomination recognizes a network rather than one continuous road. Its components include capital cities, trading settlements, religious sites, beacon towers, tombs, and mountain passes that illustrate exchange across Central Asia between the second century BCE and the sixteenth century CE.

The corridor follows the Tianshan region and includes major archaeological evidence of movement among Chinese, Central Asian, Iranian, Indian, and other cultural spheres. UNESCO describes it as a route system used for trade, diplomacy, religion, and cultural transmission.

The inscription is sometimes confused with the general phrase “Silk Road,” which refers to many routes across Eurasia. The UNESCO property is more specific: it is a defined serial heritage site with selected components in three modern countries.
