Which 2012 Frank Ocean album won the Grammy for Best Urban Contemporary Album?
Answer
Channel Orange
Answer
Channel Orange
The 2012 Frank Ocean album that won the Grammy for Best Urban Contemporary Album is Channel Orange.
Released digitally by Def Jam on July 10, 2012, Channel Orange was Ocean's debut studio album. It followed his 2011 mixtape Nostalgia, Ultra and established him as a distinctive songwriter through narrative tracks such as "Thinkin Bout You," "Pyramids," "Lost," and "Bad Religion."
At the 55th Annual Grammy Awards, held in February 2013, Channel Orange won Best Urban Contemporary Album. It was also nominated for Album of the Year, while Ocean won a second Grammy that night for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for "No Church in the Wild."
The alternatives can cause confusion because Nostalgia, Ultra preceded the album, while Endless and Blonde belong to Ocean's 2016 era. Blonde was his later studio follow-up, whereas Endless was a separate visual album released shortly before it.
