Park Jung-woo directed the South Korean disaster film Pandora, released in 2016.
The film follows a nuclear power-plant accident and its consequences for workers, families, government officials, and the wider public. Its title invokes the familiar image of a container whose opening unleashes catastrophe, making the myth a metaphor for dangerous technology and institutional failure.
Kim Nam-gil plays Jae-hyeok, a plant worker drawn into the emergency. The film combines disaster spectacle with criticism of poor safety conditions, political hesitation, and the human cost borne by ordinary workers. It was written and directed by Park Jung-woo.
Although the film is often described as a 2016 release, production and distribution references can show different dates in international listings. It is distinct from the 2006 Korean monster film The Host and from the American science-fiction film Avatar, which also uses the name Pandora.
