Which 2008 J.K. Rowling charity book collects five tales from the wizarding world?

The story behind the answer

The Tales of Beedle the Bard is J.K. Rowling's 2008 charity book collecting five tales from the wizarding world.

The collection is presented as a translated edition of stories attributed to Beedle the Bard, a fictional wizarding storyteller. The five tales are “The Wizard and the Hopping Pot,” “The Fountain of Fair Fortune,” “The Warlock's Hairy Heart,” “Babbitty Rabbitty and Her Cackling Stump,” and “The Tale of the Three Brothers.”

“The Tale of the Three Brothers” is especially familiar because Hermione reads it in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It explains the origin of the three Deathly Hallows: the Elder Wand, the Resurrection Stone, and the Cloak of Invisibility.

Rowling wrote and illustrated the book. Proceeds from the original edition supported the Children's High Level Group, later renamed Lumos. Professor Albus Dumbledore's fictional notes accompany the stories and add commentary about wizarding society.
