Which 2005 game is the sequel to the original Star Wars: Battlefront?

Star Wars: Battlefront II (2005) is the sequel to the original Star Wars: Battlefront. Pandemic Studios developed both games, while LucasArts published them as part of the original Battlefront series.

The first Battlefront arrived in 2004 and focused on large-scale ground battles inspired by the Clone Wars and Galactic Civil War. Battlefront II expanded that foundation with a story-driven campaign, playable Jedi and Sith heroes, additional classes, new maps, and space battles. Its campaign follows the 501st Legion as it changes from Republic clone troopers into Imperial stormtroopers.

The title is often confused with the later Star Wars Battlefront II released in 2017. That newer game was developed principally by EA DICE with assistance from Criterion Games and Motive Studio, and it is a rebooted continuation rather than the 2005 sequel’s direct identity. Renegade Squadron and Elite Squadron were handheld spin-offs, not the main sequel.
