Which 2001 Video of the Year winner was by Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya and Pink?

The 2001 Video of the Year winner by Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim, Mýa, and Pink was “Lady Marmalade.”

Their version was recorded for the soundtrack of the film Moulin Rouge! and reworked Labelle’s 1974 hit into a high-energy pop, R&B, and hip-hop collaboration. Missy Elliott provided the spoken introduction and was featured in the video, although the credited lead performers were Aguilera, Lil’ Kim, Mýa, and Pink.

At the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards, “Lady Marmalade” won both Video of the Year and Best Video from a Film. The music video used cabaret-inspired costumes and sets modeled on the Moulin Rouge nightclub, combining the movie’s turn-of-the-century Paris setting with contemporary pop styling. A common mix-up is confusing it with “All for You,” “Pop,” or “Independent Women Part I,” which were competing nominees in other VMA categories.
