Stardust’s 1998 song “Music Sounds Better with You” became the French house group’s only UK Singles Chart hit.

Stardust was a short-lived collaboration between producer Thomas Bangalter, later famous as half of Daft Punk, producer Alan Braxe and vocalist Benjamin Diamond. The trio recorded the track in 1998 and released it through Bangalter’s Roulé label.

The song uses a prominent sample from Chaka Khan’s 1981 recording “Fate.” Its looping guitar figure, filtered production and repeated vocal hook became a defining example of late-1990s French house. It reached number two on the UK Singles Chart and topped the charts in France and Greece.

Stardust released no further singles as a group. Bangalter, Braxe and Diamond instead continued their separate careers, which is why the track is often described as a one-hit wonder even though its members were already established musicians.
