Which 1982 Stephen King collection includes the novella The Body?

The 1982 Stephen King collection that includes the novella “The Body” is Different Seasons.

Published by Viking Press on August 27, 1982, Different Seasons gathers four novellas arranged around seasonal subtitles. “The Body” appears as “Fall from Innocence,” alongside “Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption,” “Apt Pupil,” and “The Breathing Method.”

The collection stands out because its stories lean toward drama and psychological suspense rather than King’s usual supernatural horror. Three of the four novellas became films: The Shawshank Redemption, Apt Pupil, and Stand by Me, the adaptation of “The Body.”

A common mix-up comes from King’s other collections. Night Shift was his 1978 short-story collection, Skeleton Crew followed Different Seasons in 1985, and Four Past Midnight was published in 1990. None of those books contains “The Body.”
