The 1975 Ohio Players album whose cover shows a woman with honey is Honey.
Released by Mercury Records on August 16, 1975, Honey was the Ohio Players’ seventh studio album and followed the commercially successful Fire. Its provocative cover, photographed by Richard Fegley, became one of the most recognizable images in 1970s funk. The album blended funk, soul, and R&B, with the band handling production themselves.
Honey reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and topped the U.S. Soul/Black Albums chart for three weeks. It produced two major singles: “Sweet Sticky Thing” and “Love Rollercoaster,” the latter reaching No. 1 on both the pop and R&B charts.
A common mix-up is confusing Honey with Skin Tight, Fire, or Contradiction, other Ohio Players albums associated with similarly striking cover art. The cover also inspired false stories connecting the model or a scream in “Love Rollercoaster” to violence; those legends are not true.
