Which 1957 Chrysler model became the first production car offered with electronic fuel injection?

The story behind the answer

The 1957 Chrysler 300D became the first production car offered with electronic fuel injection. Its optional Bendix Electrojector system controlled fuel delivery electronically rather than relying on a conventional carburetor.

The 300D was part of Chrysler’s high-performance 300 letter series and used a 392-cubic-inch Hemi V8. The injection option was advanced for its time, but it was expensive and prone to reliability problems, especially in cold weather. Most 300D cars therefore used a carburetor instead.

Electronic fuel injection later became far more practical as electronics improved. It eventually replaced carburetors in many production cars because it could improve cold starting, efficiency, emissions control, and throttle response.

The Chrysler 300D is sometimes confused with later Chrysler models that used mechanical fuel injection or with the 1957 Chevrolet Corvette, which offered fuel injection. The Corvette system was mechanical, while the 300D’s pioneering system was electronic.
