Which 1929 Wall Street Crash day saw the Dow Jones lose nearly 13 percent?
Answer
Black Monday
Answer
Black Monday
Black Monday was the 1929 Wall Street Crash day on which the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost nearly 13 percent.
On October 28, 1929, the Dow fell 38.33 points, or about 12.8 percent. The decline followed heavy selling and shattered confidence after the market had already begun weakening earlier in October.
Black Tuesday followed on October 29, when the Dow fell another 30.57 points, or about 11.7 percent. Together, the two sessions became the most famous consecutive collapse days of the crash.
Black Thursday, October 24, marked an earlier wave of panic selling, but it was not the largest percentage decline among these named days. The crash contributed to the wider economic contraction later known as the Great Depression, though it did not single-handedly cause every aspect of it.
