Which 1902 aircraft gave the Wright brothers their first successful three-axis control system?

The story behind the answer

The Wright Glider of 1902 gave the brothers their first successful three-axis control system.

The aircraft combined wing warping for roll, a movable rudder for yaw, and an elevator for pitch. Together, these controls allowed the pilot to bank, turn, climb, and descend in a coordinated way. The brothers tested the glider repeatedly at Kill Devil Hills during the autumn of 1902.

This aircraft was a crucial bridge between their earlier gliders and the powered Flyer. It was substantially more controllable than the 1900 and 1901 machines, and its aerodynamic data helped determine the shape and performance requirements for a powered aircraft.

The 1902 glider did not have an engine, so it was not the first powered Wright aircraft. It is often remembered instead as the machine that solved the central control problem of practical flight.
