Answer
The Lancelot-Grail Cycle
Answer
The Lancelot-Grail Cycle
The Lancelot-Grail Cycle contains the 13th-century French prose story known as the Queste del Saint Graal.
The cycle, also called the Vulgate Cycle, is a large body of Arthurian prose traditionally divided into several romances. The Queste del Saint Graal, or Quest of the Holy Grail, focuses on the spiritual quest undertaken by knights of Arthur’s court, especially Galahad, Percival, and Bors.
Unlike many earlier romances, the Queste places strong emphasis on holiness, confession, moral purity, and divine revelation. The Grail is not merely a marvellous object to be found through knightly courage; it is a spiritual mystery accessible only to the worthy.
The cycle’s authorship is not securely known, although medieval tradition sometimes associated parts of it with Walter Map. The Vulgate Cycle should not be confused with the later Post-Vulgate Cycle, which reworked and condensed some of its material.
