Where was the 1926 United States Sesquicentennial Exposition held?

The story behind the answer

The 1926 United States Sesquicentennial Exposition was held in Philadelphia.

The exposition commemorated 150 years since the signing and adoption of the Declaration of Independence. Philadelphia was a fitting host because the Second Continental Congress met there in 1776 and adopted the Declaration at the Pennsylvania State House, now Independence Hall.

The fair occupied a large area in South Philadelphia near the Delaware River. It included exhibition halls, pavilions, attractions, and displays promoting American industry, science, culture, and commerce.

The event is an important predecessor to America250 because it shows how Philadelphia repeatedly served as a national anniversary center. The United States later celebrated its Bicentennial in 1976, with observances spread across the country rather than centered on a single exposition.
