Answer
Singapore Municipal Building
Japan’s regional surrender ceremony in Singapore was held at the Singapore Municipal Building on September 12, 1945.
The ceremony formalized the surrender of Japanese forces in Southeast Asia. Lord Louis Mountbatten, Supreme Allied Commander of South East Asia Command, received the surrender from General Seishirō Itagaki, who represented Field Marshal Hisaichi Terauchi.
The event followed Japan’s national surrender ceremony aboard USS Missouri ten days earlier. The Singapore ceremony dealt with Japanese forces in the region rather than the entire Japanese state. Afterward, a British military administration took control of Singapore.
The building later became known as City Hall and remains one of Singapore’s most important historic civic sites. The nearby Padang hosted a public celebration and victory parade after the surrender signing, helping mark the end of the Japanese occupation of Singapore.
