Monkey's Eyebrow is an unincorporated community in Ballard County, in western Kentucky. It lies in the Jackson Purchase region and is associated with the nearby city of Paducah. Because it is unincorporated, it does not have the same municipal government structure as an incorporated city or town.
The unusual name has inspired several explanations. One local theory says the settlement's position resembles a monkey's eyebrow when viewed from above or from a nearby hill. Another story connects the name with residents who traveled to nearby Needmore for supplies rather than shop locally. The exact origin remains uncertain.
Older accounts describe two sections, sometimes called Old Monkey and New Monkey, with stores at both locations. Today the community is known mainly for its distinctive name, rural surroundings, and proximity to the Ballard County Wildlife Management Area. It is also paired humorously with nearby Possum Trot in local directions and jokes.
