Where did the America250 opening announcement take place on July 3, 2025?

The America250 opening announcement took place in Des Moines, Iowa, on July 3, 2025.

The event launched the formal phase of America250 celebrations, which lead to the United States Semiquincentennial on July 4, 2026. Des Moines is the capital of Iowa and the location of the Iowa State Fairgrounds, which were also associated with proposed anniversary programming.

This date can be confused with June 14, 2025, when the United States Army held its 250th-anniversary parade. That parade was described as an early or “soft launch” of broader semiquincentennial festivities, while July 3 was the formal America250 start.

The 2025 announcement occurred exactly one year before the 250th anniversary date. America250 marked the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and organized programs across the United States rather than limiting the observance to one host city.
