The 2025 United States Army 250th Anniversary Parade began at the Pentagon before reaching the National Mall.
The route crossed the Potomac region, starting at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and continuing toward Washington, D.C. The event was part of the celebrations connected to America250 and commemorated the Army’s founding on June 14, 1775.
The Pentagon is the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense and is one of the world’s largest office buildings. Its five-sided design gives the building its familiar name. The National Mall, where the parade concluded, is the long landscaped space in central Washington containing monuments, museums, and memorials.
Several nearby landmarks can make this route easy to misremember. The White House is north of the National Mall, Arlington National Cemetery is west of the Potomac River, and Independence Hall is in Philadelphia. None of those locations was the parade’s starting point. The Pentagon’s role also reflects the event’s military focus rather than the colonial setting associated with the 1776 declaration.
