According to John, Jesus performed his first miracle at Cana, where he turned water into wine during a wedding feast. John calls this event Jesus’s first “sign.”
The story appears in John 2:1–11. Jesus attended the wedding with his mother and disciples, and the celebration ran out of wine. At his mother’s prompting, Jesus instructed servants to fill large stone jars with water. When the steward tasted it, the water had become wine, and he praised the bridegroom for saving the best wine until last.
John’s wording matters: the Gospel presents the event not merely as a wonder but as a sign revealing Jesus’s glory and strengthening his disciples’ belief. The Synoptic Gospels—Matthew, Mark, and Luke—do not include the wedding at Cana.
Cana’s precise historical location remains debated. Candidates include modern Kafr Kanna and Khirbet Qana in Galilee, but the quiz answer is the place named in John: Cana, not Jesus’s hometown Nazareth or Jerusalem.
