Where did Japan's first surrender delegation land after flying from Tokyo on August 19, 1945?

The story behind the answer

Japan's first surrender delegation landed at Ie Shima after flying from Tokyo on August 19, 1945. The delegation traveled in two demilitarized Japanese aircraft during the arrangements for the formal surrender.

The aircraft were called Bataan 1 and Bataan 2. They carried representatives connected with the Japanese government and military command, including General Torashiro Kawabe, who represented Army Chief of Staff Yoshijiro Umezu.

Ie Shima was an island near Okinawa that Allied forces had captured earlier in the Pacific campaign. From there, the Japanese delegation transferred to an American aircraft and continued to Manila for discussions with Allied officials. This mission preceded the September 2 signing aboard USS Missouri and should not be confused with the final surrender ceremony itself.
