Where did Frida Kahlo die in 1954?

The story behind the answer

Frida Kahlo died at Casa Azul in Coyoacán, Mexico City, in 1954.

Casa Azul was Kahlo’s family home and the place where she was born and spent much of her life. Its vivid blue walls, courtyards, and collection of Mexican art became closely associated with her public image.

Kahlo died on 13 July 1954, six days after her forty-seventh birthday. The official cause was recorded as a pulmonary embolism, although later speculation has questioned the circumstances. Those theories remain unproven.

The house did not become a museum until 1958, four years after her death. It is now the Frida Kahlo Museum and is one of Mexico City’s most visited cultural sites.
