2017 first-round NFL draft pick Myles Garrett played college football at Texas A&M.
Garrett joined the Texas A&M Aggies in 2014 and immediately established himself as an elite pass rusher. As a freshman defensive end, he set a school record with 11.5 sacks and earned national attention for his speed, length, and ability to disrupt quarterbacks from the edge.
He continued to dominate over the next two seasons, finishing his college career with 31 sacks, the most in Texas A&M history at the time. Garrett was recognized as a consensus All-American and won the 2016 Bill Willis Trophy, awarded to the nation’s top defensive lineman. His performances made him one of the most highly regarded prospects in the 2017 draft.
The Cleveland Browns selected Garrett first overall in 2017, making him the draft’s top pick. His college team is sometimes shortened informally to “A&M,” but the full school name at the time was Texas A&M University. The university’s teams compete in the Southeastern Conference, commonly known as the SEC.
