When Norv Turner joined the San Diego Chargers in 2007, which NFL team had he most recently coached?

The story behind the answer

When Norv Turner joined the San Diego Chargers in 2007, the Oakland Raiders were the NFL team he had most recently coached. Turner served as the Raiders' head coach from 2004 through 2005 before being dismissed after a 9–23 record over two seasons.

The Chargers hired Turner in February 2007 to replace Marty Schottenheimer, who had coached San Diego during the 2006 season. Turner therefore did not come directly from another Chargers coaching role, although he had previously been the team's offensive coordinator in 2001.

Turner's earlier head-coaching job was with the Washington Redskins from 1994 to 2000. Before becoming a head coach, he was best known as the Dallas Cowboys' offensive coordinator during their victories in Super Bowls XXVII and XXVIII.

Turner coached the Chargers from 2007 to 2012. His first San Diego team went 11–5 and reached the AFC Championship Game, making the Raiders his most recent previous head-coaching stop.
