When Michael gives out his final round of Dundies in “The Office,” Danny Cordray wins Hottest in the Office. Michael announces the award during the Season 7 episode “Michael’s Last Dundies.”
Danny is the exceptionally successful traveling salesman played by Timothy Olyphant. He impresses Michael, Jim, and Dwight earlier in the season by stealing several clients from Dunder Mifflin, eventually joining the company as a salesman. His good looks and confident manner make him an obvious target for Michael’s teasing admiration.
The joke is that Danny is not present to accept the award. Michael still gives him the Dundie, making the moment feel like both a compliment and one of Michael’s characteristically awkward bits. Viewers sometimes remember Ryan Howard as the winner because Ryan briefly seems like the likely recipient, but Michael calls out Danny’s name instead. The episode originally aired in 2011 as Michael’s last Dundies before Steve Carell’s departure from the series.
