When did the 2018 Winter Olympics torch relay start?

The story behind the answer

The 2018 Winter Olympics torch relay started on 24 October 2017.

The flame was lit in Ancient Olympia, Greece, the symbolic birthplace of the Olympic Games. Greek cross-country skier Apostolos Angelis became the first torchbearer, beginning the relay’s Greek section toward the PyeongChang Games in South Korea.

The flame traveled through Greece before being handed over to the PyeongChang organizers at Athens’ Panathenaic Stadium on 31 October. It reached South Korea on 1 November, exactly 100 days before the Winter Olympics opened.

The South Korean portion lasted 101 days and covered 2,018 kilometers. About 7,500 torchbearers carried the flame across the country before it reached PyeongChang Olympic Stadium for the opening ceremony on 9 February 2018. The date can be confused with 1 November, but that was the start of the Korean leg, not the overall relay.
