When did Pokémon GO first launch on Android and iOS devices?
Answer
July 2016
Answer
July 2016
Pokémon GO first launched on Android and iOS devices in July 2016.
Niantic developed the augmented-reality mobile game in collaboration with The Pokémon Company and Nintendo. It uses GPS, mobile networking, and location-based gameplay to place Pokémon, PokéStops, and Gyms in the real world.
The game did not receive a single simultaneous worldwide release. It launched in selected countries during July 2016 and expanded to additional territories afterward. That staggered rollout is why individual release dates can differ depending on the country being discussed.
Pokémon GO originally focused on the 151 Pokémon associated with Generation I. Later updates introduced creatures from additional generations, along with features such as raids, trading, research tasks, and player-versus-player battles.
